This is our imagining of how Ruth Bader and Marty Ginsburg's preparation for and arguing of the appeal of Charles Moritz against the IRS denial of a tax break based on his gender creates a stronger, more equitable marriage and lays the foundation for Ruth's rise to the Supreme Court.

A self taught veterinarian and former slave uses his knowledge and compassion to nurse a foal back to health, then teach him how to spell, tell time, and run a cash register in an effort to promote kindness to animals in a time where black men and beast were considered equal and worthy only of abuse.
